With more than 45 years of hospitality in Petén, we are proud to be part of the region’s tourism history. We are part of IK’HAM Corporation, a Petén-based company dedicated to hospitality and tourism services, committed to creating authentic and memorable experiences for those who visit our destination.

OUR HISTORY

Hotel San Miguel began in 1981 as the dream of our founders, Mrs. Marta Luz Zacal de Tun and Mr. Óscar Dionisio Tun Cano, pioneers of hospitality in the San Miguel area. The project started with four rooms, offering accommodation, meals, and laundry services to travelers seeking to discover the natural, cultural, and archaeological richness of Petén.

Over the years, the hotel also welcomed students and archaeologists participating in expeditions to El Mirador and other important archaeological sites in the region. In 2014, six new rooms were added, followed in 2020 by two shared dormitory-style rooms, providing more accommodation options for travelers with different styles and budgets.

That same year, the services of Restaurante San Miguel were expanded, and San Miguel Travel Agency was established, allowing us to provide a more complete tourism experience and make it easier for our guests to explore the main attractions of Petén.

Today, the new generations of the Tun family proudly continue this legacy, preserving the values of hospitality, personal attention, and service that have distinguished Hotel San Miguel for decades.
